Born Sept. 10, 1940 --- Completed his ride of life Sept. 11, 2004. RIP

No one will really ever know just how many riders have been inspired by the work of David Mann. Many of them like myself were drawn to the “biker lifestyle” from his art work and his imagination the first time we saw his work in “Easyriders” magazine.

In 1971 a new motorcycle magazine emerged on the scene and an ad was placed in the back pages for an artist. That ad was answered by an artist from Kansas City by the name of Dave Mann. The magazine was Easyriders and as they say...the rest is history.

For years I couldn’t wait to see what new creation only his mind could put down onto canvas for us to see. Somehow, as only he could do, with each publication he captured a picture that his mind possessed and he magically managed to bring it to life on his canvas.

David Mann's work adorned the center pages of Easyriders magazine for decades and even though he has now passed his art remains alive in our biker hearts.

We've all had a poster of his work, ripped out of the centerfold of a biker magazine hanging in our homes and garages. Dave Mann inspired some of us with his talent and we looked at his works and some even started to chop their bikes to match those depicted in his illustrations. Over the past 30 years he produced numerous paintings and illustrations depicting the biker lifestyle.

For years I have admired David Mann’s work and I believe that through his art, he largely responsible for my decision in life to live the “Biker Lifestyle.” During that time I have collected some of his art work. Here on this site are some of his legendary biker art where he captured the image of the “biker lifestyle.”

I can spend hours looking at his art and I can’t help but feel pulled into them. I imagine the story he is telling through a certain painting.  David Mann had this gift of letting the viewer feel the moment he was expressing as if it was caught in time.

I am a huge fan of his work and I want not only the biker world but the caged world to experience his art. Who knows there may be other persons he can inspire to live the biker lifestyle as well. Most of all keep the idea of the biker lifestyle alive.  That is what he did.  I have created this “tribute gallery” to him so that he is never forgotten and no one forgets what effect he had on all of us.

These photos here really do not do his true art justice. If you like his art then I encourage you to buy his true works that are still for sale. You can find them at the link and event below.

I hope that you enjoy his work as much as all of us have and still do.. If you want to find out more about David Mann please take the time to read his bio. There is also a bike event dedicated to his memory. For more information go to “Chopper Festival”
